Warranty, Return Policy & Product Information/Guarantee

Thinking about returning a replacement umbrella canopy? The most frequently returned items we see are canopy tops for patio or market umbrellas because of misordering the wrong size. Before you start a return, we may be able to help you save money—often by pairing your canopy with a compatible frame at a discounted price, or helping you remeasure for a more accurate replacement. Returns & Refunds

Most unused products may be returned within 90 days for a refund of the purchase price (shipping fees are non-refundable). Items marked as non-returnable or special/custom orders cannot be refunded. Customers are responsible for return shipping costs. Returned items must be unused, in original condition, and are subject to the following conditions:

  1. Products damaged in transit or with manufacturer defects will be repaired, replaced, or refunded at Shade Perfect’s discretion. Any damage, defect, or missing part must be reported to us within 14 days of receiving your order. Keep all original cartons and packaging until the issue is resolved, as carriers require them for inspection or return.

  2. Items deemed eligible for a refund are subject to a 10% restocking fee to cover inspection and repackaging. Refunds will also be reduced by either the original shipping cost or the actual return shipping cost—whichever is greater. (Example: For oversized cartons, Shade Perfect subsidizes UPS’s additional handling charges, which can be up to $18; these are deducted from your credit.)

  3. Items marked “Free Shipping” or “Shipping Included” do carry an embedded shipping cost, which will be deducted from the refund. These products are also subject to a 30% restocking fee upon return.


What’s Not Covered

Our refund and warranty policies exclude:

  1. Products damaged by neglect, misuse, wind, or natural elements (rain, snow, sun rot, mildew, etc.), unless otherwise noted on the product page.

  2. Special/custom orders (including Sunbrella® or imprinted products).

  3. Broken or bent support poles, ribs, tilt mechanisms, or rib pockets.

  4. Discrepancies in color appearance. We do our best to display accurate colors, but outdoor light and digital screens vary. If color is critical, please reach out before purchasing.

  5. Products purchased for commercial, public, rental, or third-party use. Our warranty only applies to items purchased for private/home use.

  6. Canopies designed for shade only—they are not waterproof or suitable for rain or snow conditions.


Additional Return Rules

  1. Concerns about items received incorrectly must be reported within 14 days. Retain original packaging for return shipment.

  2. UPS charges a fee for address corrections ($15), which will be billed to customers who provide incomplete or incorrect addresses.

  3. UPS makes three delivery attempts; unclaimed packages are returned at the customer’s expense.

  4. Packages returned as refused or undeliverable are subject to a 10% restocking fee plus all return shipping charges.

  5. UPS does not guarantee expedited delivery for oversized packages (e.g., 9′ umbrellas). In these cases, shipping charges are non-refundable.


Fade Warranty

Some products include a limited fade warranty, offered on a prorated basis. Customers must return the canopy (at their expense) for inspection. Shade Perfect will evaluate fading and determine credit toward a replacement. Example: A canopy with a 3-year fade warranty that fades after 30 months would qualify for 1/6 off the cost of a replacement.


One-Per-Customer Warranty Limit

Warranties are extended on a one-per-customer, lifetime basis.


Return Process

All returns require a completed Return Form. No credits will be issued without this form.
